    A Bitcointalk user named lumos posts a link to buttcoin.gif. buttcoin.money's timeline calls it the earliest public record of the word in crypto, three years before Dogecoin.

    A Something Awful poster drops the line. Within weeks Buttcoin.org is live, a parody blog cataloguing Bitcoin crashes, exchange blowups and scams.
